A Showcase of Contemporary Vietnamese Art

The exhibition of Ha Tri Hieu is curated by Tran Luong. Both of them are members of Hanoi’s
‘Gang of Five’, the first group of young artists to gain international renown after Vietnam opened up in the late 1980s. Ha Tri Hieu termless inspiration comes from the rural life in Vietnam, his poetic, expressionist paintings highlight the beauty and simplicity of Vietnamese countryside. Born in Hanoi in 1959, he is deeply impressed by his childhood memories and remembrances about the sceneries and people around. Following the exhibition in the morning, nest by AIA will also host an art education session for children in the afternoon.

Celebrate contemporary art

Vietnam Eye: Contemporary Vietnamese Art features 56 Vietnamese emerging contemporary artists, out of which 19 will take part in the exhibition that was also kicked off today at Casa Italia, Hanoi. This big project was established in 2009 by David and Serenella Ciclitira in collaboration with the Saatchi Gallery in order to nurture artistic talent across Asia’s emerging art scenes. The initiative is sponsored by AIA and supported by the Government of Vietnam, the Italian Ambassador to Vietnam, and the British Ambassador to Vietnam. Together the book and the exhibition will offer an overview of one of the newest and most exciting scenes in the global art world. Alongside the main exhibition there will be a series of satellite exhibitions, which will take place at nest by AIA in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
